Karla Holliday

 

 

Karla started working at OCCS as our Senior Educator in the Infant room in November for 2014. She loves working at OCCS because of all the support that the team and board members provide. She enjoys all the families that she gets to work along side with. ┬áHer favourite thing about being an educator is assisting and supporting the children in all aspects of their development. She loves watching new skills emerge as the children explore. In her spare time she keeps busy with her 7 year old daughter. They fill their time with bike riding, skating and visit the local parks. Her favourite children’s books are The Lorax by Dr. Suess and I Love You More by Laura Duksta. Something you may not know about Karla is that she loves candy!

Susan Deptford

Susan is the Senior educator in the Preschool room. She has been with us since January of 2002. She loves working at OCCS because of how flexible and supportive all the staff are towards each other. She loves all the passion that her and her team show and the dedication they have for the field and working with children and families. She believes we have so many great families and staff which make coming to work fun. Susan loves watching the children grow and learn. She loves seeing them accomplish tasks that they may have spent a long time working on. In her spare time Susan likes to spend time with her family, watching hockey (go Canucks go!), dancing (jazz and hip hop) and loves taking her two dogs for walks. Her favourite children’s books are the Three Billy Goats Gruff by Rachel Mortimer and We share Everything! By Robert Munsch. Something you may not know about her is that she was born with 12 fingers and 12 toes!

Erin Beattie

Erin is the Manager here at OCCS. She started as a Preschool Educator in September of 2012. She then moved into the manager position in July of 2014. She loves working at OCCS because of the strong community and families we have here. It truly feels like a home away from home. The educators here are so supportive of each other, especially in the endeavors of their colleagues to pursue further education. She loves having the opportunity to see the children and families grow. As an educator she loves having the ability to positively impact a child’s life. She feels that it is truly a privilege to be a part of families as they grow through the centre. She feels that being a support and a resource to children and families is extremely important. In her spare time she loves to read and head down to the ocean and if there’s time in between being a busy mom of 4, she likes to squeeze in some yoga. Her favourite books are Someday by Allison McGhee and Peter Reynolds, the Polar Express by Chris Van Allsburg and last but not least Oh the places you’ll Go by Dr. Suess. Something that you may not know about her is that she is a self proclaimed Disnerd (Disney addict) and Christmas fanatic.

Amber Goforth

Amber is an educator in the Preschool room. She has been with us since July of 2009 after completing her practicum here. Amber loves working at OCCS because of her amazing team and work family as well as other fantastic benefits. As an educator, Amber really loves using every day as a learning experience not only for the children but for herself. She views herself as a life long learner. She really enjoys building lasting and meaningful relationships with the children and their families. In her spare time she loves to spend time with her family, go to the gym and take voice lessons. She loves getting outside and spending time in nature. Her favourite children’s books are Goodnight Moon by Margaret Wise Brown. She really enjoys the authors Dr. Seuss and Robert Munsch. She recently discovered a great series of children’s books called Elephant and Piggy. They are a very welcomed addition to her library. Something you may not know about Amber is that she has started taking voice lessons with her 12 year old daughter in 2015.

Anna Correia

Anna is one of our wonderful preschool educators. She came to us in April of 2008 as a practicum student and decided that she loved it here so much that she would stay. She has been a permanent employee with us here since July of 2008. She loves OCCS and being able to come to work everyday in such a fantastic preschool space with the most amazing and fun colleagues make her truly love her job. As an educator she loves making special connections with all the children and families that she gets to meet. Seeing that she makes a difference in a child’s life is a great feeling for her. In her spare time she enjoys going to movies, watching hockey and finding fun things to do around town with her family. She loves the Elephant and Piggy series by Mo Williams and you can often hear her chanting the Mortimer book by Robert Munsch with the preschool children. Something you may not know about Anna is that she is a huge Canucks fan and she’s worked at SilverCity since the doors opened in 1999!
