Job Type: Permanent position beginning July 2, 2024 (37.5 – 40 hours a week)
Wage: $23.19/hr (with annual wage increase) + $6.00 ECE wage enhancement = $29.19/hr
Qualifications:
– Early Childhood Education Certificate
– Must be registered with Provincial Child Care Facility Licensing Board
– Must be able to clear a criminal record check as required by the Licensing Board
– Valid Standard First Aid with CPR-C
– 3 Letters of Recommendation or References
Position Summary:
The Early Childhood Educators are responsible for providing daily care and educational experiences for the children enrolled in the 3 to 5-year-old program at Our Children’s Centre. OCCS is a not for profit, licensed group childcare centre and has a beautiful and strong sense of community. Our educators work together collaboratively to support the children and their families, by building strong relationships, while also ensuring the policies and philosophies are implemented and maintained. Our pedagogy is guided by the Early Learning Framework, and its vision for respectfully living and learning together. The educators also develop and maintain meaningful working relationships with the OCCS Board of Directors, managers, facility staff, and others as required.

Role/Duties
- Supervise the activities of children and guide guests in the program;
- In conjunction with other employees; develop, oversee, and evaluate an emergent curriculum within the program;
- As a representative of Our Children’s Centre Society, develop and maintain positive & professional relationships with external agencies, authorities, associations, resources and the general public;
- Build effective, supportive and professional relationships with the staff and parents of the facility;
- Exemplify all necessary qualities in problem solving and acceptance of responsibilities;
- Work in partnership with all families, ensuring a clear understanding and / or resolution of concerns regarding centre activities as they relate to objectives, child development and OCCS policies and philosophies within the program;
- Ensure that all legal, licensing and legislative requirements are met, maintained and implemented within the program;
- Ensure appropriate care and safety for all children, educators, substitutes, students and guests within the program. Observe and remove potential hazards, report all incidents of child abuse to supervisory position and follow organization’s procedures and government legislation;
- Act as a professional role model and resource person for parents, students, colleagues, etc.;
- Ensure that health and safety standards are met.
- Candidate must be physically able to lift 30 lbs and move from sitting on the floor to standing with ease.
